The Department of Emergency Aid and Disaster Management was first opened at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Turhal Applied Technology and Business Administration School with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 15.06.2011 and numbered 2011/2018 and accepted its first students in the 2018-2019 academic year.
The department was included in the Faculty of Health Sciences with the decision taken by the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education on 16.05.2020, and it continues to accept students and conducts its courses and other activities in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
There are 3 Assoc. Prof, 1 faculty members and 1 research assistant working in our department. Our courses were created by combining four disciplines: health courses, emergency aid and disaster management field courses, management and organization courses, and sports science courses. Our theoretical courses are held in the classrooms of our faculty, and the applications of our applied courses are carried out in cooperation with various institutions and organizations (e.g., AFAD, Provincial Fire Department) according to the content of the courses.
The education period in the department is four years, and the language of instruction is Turkish. The total ECTS of our courses for 8 semesters is 240.
Emergency Aid and Disaster Management program graduates have many employment opportunities. Some of these are the following;
-Graduates can work as managers, section chiefs, or experts in the central and provincial branches within the Emergency Management Presidency organization.
-Graduates can work as civil servants or field personnel in Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorates.
-Graduates can work as officers or field personnel in Civil Defense Search and Rescue Unit Directorates.
-Graduates can work as experts or managers in fire departments of all provincial and district municipalities.
-Graduates can work as experts or coordinators in 112 ambulance centers.
-Graduates can work in private sector institutions operating within the framework specified in Law No. 5902.
-Graduates can operate in non-profit organizations that work on public awareness and education issues.
-Graduates can pursue an academic career at universities and continue their business lives as scientists.
